Working with resin is something I’m eager to try, the contrast between plastic and wood, natural and man made can be quite beautiful. I’m not as interested in embedded objects such as pencils or gum nuts but these resins are often used for that.
This is a list of resin suppliers in Australia. Some of these also appear on my woodturning suppliers page.
Solid Solutions
http://www.solidsolutions.com.au/
This resin comes highly recommended and I have bought a small quanity to test. However it is very expensive with 1L of Solidcast 606 parts A&B costing just under $80 delivered.
Adelaide Moulding and Casting Supplies
https://www.amcsupplies.com.au/
Not technically a woodturning supplies shop, but they stock a range of casting resins that may be useful to people looking to experiment with epoxy.
West System
Epoxy resins, no online sales, however all the data sheets are available here. Local online store is Adelaide Moulding and Casting.
The Boat Warehouse
Carry a range of resins and coatings including West System and Perfect Gloss. Check pricing as they may be a little on the high side.
Glass Coat
http://glasscoat.com.au/
A range of epoxy resins designed for hard coating timber surfaces. Not sure if these would be suitabel for casting.
